Purpose & The Power of Prayer

What is our Purpose?

Rejoice always, Pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is Gods will for your life in Christ Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Rejoice Always:
Rejoicing always doesn't mean faking happiness or putting a smile on your face during the hard times. Although, this is a great thing to do, for your mental well being. Faking a smile actually produces endorphins in your brain that lead to longer term happiness. But, God wants us to celebrate him, worship him and love one another. In Philippians 4:4-5 it says "Rejoice in the Lord always... Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near." He wants us to celebrate our small victories and learn to love ourselves, each other and obviously the most important one, Him.

Therefore confess your sins to one another that you may be healed, the prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

James 5:16

Prayer:
Prayer is a gift God has given to us where we can ask for provision, guidance, acceptance and protection against the enemy. Prayer can be long or brief, spontaneous or scripted, you can be crying out to god or just asking for help in a particular area of your life, you could speak aloud or in your head and you can do it with others or yourself. But in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 we are reminded to "pray continually". What does that mean exactly? It means to never seize prayer, to pray constantly, as if God was in the room with you. BECAUSE HE IS. Basically just pretend you have an imaginary friend and his name is God and he's with you everywhere you go. Find the inner child in you that finds the fun in loving Jesus. We are so lucky to have a God that loves us and is willing to answer our prayers and listen to us when we are desperate. Don't loose Hope. He has and never will leave you nor forsake you. Never give up on a prayer or feel it is unanswered, it just might not be the right time or God might have other plans for you. I am so grateful to serve a God that loves and protects me, gives me peace and hope for a brighter future.

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; His love endures forever.

Psalm 107:1 (NIV)

Circumstance:
We all get into circumstances that are difficult to get out of or hard to deal with. A loved one passing, being diagnosed with an illness, losing a job, a breakup or divorce. I could go on but the one thing we have to always remember is to put God first. Because if we remember to put God first, everything else will fall into place. He will help us through the tough times and the good times too. But in the darkness he shines a light that helps us see that we deserve to be here. When we are hurting or grieving its easy to ask "Why God?,". But the truth is in Romans 8:28 it says "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to his purpose". So even the things we feel are "bad". Are really just trails that are setting us up to grow so we can mature into the next stage of our lives. Never be afraid of growth, change or opportunity. God wants you to have the world. And he's with you each step of the way.

This is God will For your Life:
Everyone will find their own purpose, we are not all meant to be doing the same thing. That's why god gave each of us specific talents. some excel at math, science, art or music while other are more hands on, Construction, welding, cooking etc. We all find our place in the world one way or another. I truly believe the attacks from the enemy and the trails we go through help build us up to the person we are supposed to be and the career or dream we wish to accomplish. God gives us the knowledge and power to make it possible.
The main point is if we follow the first three points we will eventually find ourselves at our destination. We will be doing everything God wants us to do and on top of that, in the process, he will guide us to what career or job or dream we are looking for. We just have to listen.

I have told you these things so that in me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you will have trials and tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident and filled with joy] for I have overcome the world [My conquest is accomplished, my victory abiding].
John 16:33
