Seasons of Anxiety
Anxiety weighs a mans heart down, but a good word can make him glad.
Proverbs 12:25
We all have days when our heads are spinning from overwhelming but we are all protected by Gods grace. Memorizing His word is crucial to having a weapon against the enemy when he attacks our minds and thoughts. We can use them as a defense meninism to anchor us when we need to be grounded in His word. His word is the prescription we need to take to feel better and become more like Jesus. When we meditate on the word, rolling it over and over again in our minds until it sticks, we have a better chance at hearing those scriptures come to us in dark times as guidance, or even remembering to use them for comfort.
You may feel as if everything is out of your control, and let me tell you, most things are. As humans we programmed to want try to control everything around us instead of handing it over to God. Its almost like a muscle you have to build slowly over time. Letting go sets you free from that anxiety and overwhelm you are dealing with. The first time I think I ever TRULY experienced the Holy Ghost was when I went to my Christmas family gathering. Now my family is huge and I would usually have a panic attack whenever I went. But on this particular day I noticed; I was half way through and I hadn't taken any anxiety meds and on top of that I felt calm for no reason at all. I was a little confused to say the least, but I recalled watching a sermon on the Holy Spirit and how it works with us in stressful situations to bring us peace. My faith really began deepening after that experience. I didn't feel out of control anymore, I knew God would handle it. I could believe and have faith in him to help me in any situation.
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10
Feeling a deep inner peace is one of the ways we can tell the Holy Spirit is inside us, helping us battle against the enemy. Even if you don't feel inner peace yet, keep up with your study time, prayer and quiet time with God and soon you will reap the benefits. Each positive thing you do for yourself is planting a seed, all seeds grow and then there is a time of harvest. The planting is our prayer, study time and quiet time with God, when we harvest we get a closer relationship with him because of the work we are putting into our relationship with Him. All God wants is a relationship with you. If you put in the effort and work you will have an easier time hearing from God about certain situations and you will also have less fear because you will be connected to the divine. The Holy Spirit will dwell within you and you will find yourself more at peace and able to take on situations you didn't know you could before.
